My thoughts about the wilderness, As it Makes me feel I belong,
Of many a tranquil moment, Spent in ways that never feel wrong.
I feel this certain peacefulness, free of stress and strife,
All of those daily inconveniences, That seem to go hand in hand with life.
It is often that I dream of it, And wish myself be there,
Hunting a whitetail or an elk, while taking in the sweet aroma of the air.
I stalk up and down the terrain, My bow and arrow at my side,
And look and wonder, All the splendor that this great surely does not hide.
I feel like I am one with nature, As my senses start to ignite,
One can only think and wonder, Which animal will be the first to come in site.
And then I sit back and appreciate, Even if nothing shows up today,
I still will have a splendid hunt, I am glad that God made me this way.
I may indeed depart this great majestic land without an arrow flung from my bow,
Yet I feel I am much better-off, than any other man I know.
